Glaucoma Treatment: Medical Therapy
The damage caused by glaucoma cannot be reversed. But treatment and regular check-ups can help decrease or prevent vision loss, especially if the disease is treated in the early stages. Depending on the situation, your options may include prescription eye drops (drops), oral medications, laser treatment or surgery, or a combination of any of these options, always prescribed by an ophthalmologist. The glaucoma medications (drops) can help reduce eye pressure as improve drainage of fluid in the eye or reduce the amount of fluid by the eye. Be sure to use the drops exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
