Glaucoma Treatment: Surgery
When drug treatment is not enough to reduce pressure in the eye, sometimes surgery must be performed. It should be known that glaucoma surgery does not serve to improve patients' vision, because the optic nerve damage can not be regenerated, but to lower the eye pressure to the levels needed to maintain vision. Trabeculectomy, the deep sclerectomy and implants (valves) drainage procedures are most commonly used.
